first off, had strange odor, like air freshener but not quite.carpet and lobby bathrooms were dirty. offered refreshments from a young lady from the kitchen, seemed nice.sales woman greeted us and wanted us to go to a room to talk.very pushy, asking a lot of financial questions. felt un easy. we were warned ahead of time of the high sales pressure, but we were not expecting that level.trying to create sense of urgency no rooms etc.,she needs to be retrained.we left and won't be back.we felt the need to leave the review to save another family from the same experience

My father was a resident in the memory care unit for three weeks. He fell and contracted pneumonia in his first week. I had to hire my own nighttime aides after one week. I removed him after the third week. I believe my father was being abused in their facility. He had bruises, they couldn’t explain how he fell. These memory care units are not safe for elderly dementia residents. They only care about the money and they are extremely deceitful. My father is gone now, my heart breaks for all the elderly in these places. There is little to no oversight for these facilities. I have attempted to complain to many entities and I’m still trying. If you have a bad experience, keep complaining, keep giving bad reviews. Our elderly deserve so much better.

We have lived here for over 6 months. Has its ups and downs. The UPS are the friendly people , the food and soups. The lady at the front desk is very helpful and the new administrator seems nice as well. The lows laundry it's non-existent. Always missing items clothes come back dirty. Our apartment is hardly ever cleaned always in a rush bathroom is done every 10 days seems like. I know everyone is busy but I see them talking in the hallways a lot not doing anything. The supervisor can be a grumpy man. Overall we are okay

We saw a sign for a tour we decided to check it out for my mother-in-law. We going to Florida and we were looking for a respite situation. First impressions lots of odors , lots of aerosol spray. Lot of workers chit-chatting not paying attention to us. Young man in the kitchen came out offered us and bottled water which was nice. My husband used the restroom while we waited he came back and said this isn't the place for us. Smell of urine felt dirty no paper towels to wash your hands. We took a quick tour notice the same peeling paint Etc kind of dingy. I'm sure the people that work there are nice but not for us

First of all we would like to say we are very happy overall with Haverhill Crossings. Mom is adjusting well likes her fellow residents. We are happy mom is eating three times daily and great snacks. We have been having a little bit of an issue with housekeeping.. I am sure the man who is in charge of housekeeping is nice but is very rude. When asked questions about Mom's apartment responses we will get to it you need to be patient doing the best I can. We feel unacceptable for the money being paid. Thank you

We first want to start off by saying overall we are very happy here in Haverhill Crossings. Mom has adjusted well she likes the other folks she lives with within the building. Food ,girls in the dining room Exedra all fine. The care mom gets is great. Laundry could be better but I think that happens everywhere. Our issue is with housekeeping. We have asked several times to have moms bathroom cleaned. Situation got better but now housekeeping non-existent again. When we approached the supervisor he told us we are doing the best we can only so many hours in a day and you will have to wait your turn. Not the first time

I had my mother live here for 4 months. They make a good sales pitch, but fall very short in delivery. Within two weeks they suggested I hire a private one-on-one for my mother because the staff couldn't care for her. The issue was not my mother (since she lived in two other assisted living facilities with no problems before this) - the issue is lack of properly trained staff to redirect typical dementia behaviors (even though they present themselves as specializing in this). They also sent my mother out to the ER twice - once because a staff member didn't have the skill to redirect her and the second time because she had a UTI because they didn't toilet her enough. This is a recurring problem here - this was confirmed by the medical team that works with the Atrium. The last straw was when I discovered bruises all over my mother and they denied any responsibility and I even caught them in a lie trying to cover themselves - we moved out immediately. My mother is in a much better assisted living facility now and has no issues what so ever. Please don't fall for the sales pitch - this place is terrible. They don't have the trained staff to handle dementia residents and the Resident Care Director is very incompetent.

Beware , if you try to bring a family member home , you will get slandered by the administration, making it difficult to get another doctor. Any attempt at removal will be viewed as " against medical advice" . and lots of them bad mouthing your ability to provide care to anyone they can contact...not just your potential new dr, but ANY family members , landlords , employers. The administration is allll about keeping those beds filled, and once they have a patient they wont let them go till the day the money runs out. If i was rich, i would sue them all day long.

Worst decision ever made. Poor management, the director seems inept at best. Mom's apartment is filthy, when we visit unannounced the staff seems surprised and tells us she has been "difficult" this a.m. Is that any excuse to ignore.?Never a straight answer from Director, always defers to another manager who is always to busy for us..Our mistake. We should have noticed the heavy smell of Lysol, facility is smelly and dingy when you visit before housekeeping arrives. One plus the fresh muffins and coffee supplied by the kitchen staff

Visited to organize a meeting with the staff member responsible for discharges, as I am a senior manager for a Home Care agency and aside from providing lists of services to businesses like this one, I keep a log of rehabs, nursing homes, etc to help in elder care planning with clients who live in New London and Lower Middlesex counties. While the receptionist was wonderful in helping me, a short, white-short haired woman rudely shooed me away as wasting their time, although she was not at all included in the conversation. She told me if I was worth their time, they'll call me. It was disgusting. I will most certainly not be recommending this facility to my clients, as clearly they do not work well with elder care planners and this isn't the type of attitude any elder would need in their time of great need. I pride myself in providing the best locations for my clients to recover in, this one's attitude is the worst in the New London County and as an elder planner- I can only say A V O I D it.

My father resided in the memory care unit of this facility for seven months, during which time his glaases were lost or [Removed] and we were not informed. Since we live out of state, he apparently could not see for over two months. Additionally, four teeth were missing in his right upper arch, that were perfectly healthy when he left home a few months before. We were unable to determine what had transpired. Dad also deteriorated emotinally. On one occasion we visited him on a Saturday and they could not locate him. Every time we spoke...and the staff made contact difficult...he was frightened and agitated. Dad was recently relocated to another facility. He is happy and relaxed...such a relief! We are easily able to communicate with him, check with staff regarding his physical and emotional health. Sunrise has a lovely facade...and facade is the appropriate description.

We are very unhappy with Sanctuary Care. The high turnover of staff is unacceptable. They lock the patients in their rooms at night, the aides hide in closets because they are afraid of some of the residents. At our family meeting we all decided that it was necessary to bring in a hospital bed. It took 2 months to finally have a bed brought in - unacceptable. They don't have enough staff. Many families are very disappointed not only our family. Dementia is a very sad disease and this facility only makes it harder for the residents and families. We have to barely give 1 star.
