Silverado Senior Living

The thing that stands out most to me is how caring and compassionate the staff are at Silverado. The energy of the staff is remarkable and inspirational. I'm also thrilled with the community pets and Silverado's commitment to keeping residents surrounded by animals and allowing their pets to continue to live with them during this stage of their lives. It's wonderful.

I’ve had a very positive, though short, experience. My loved one has been there two months. It’s night and day from the facility that she was at before. M loved one has advanced system. They are really remarkable in the way they handle the residents. It’s a very progressive community.

Cost is very high, when nursing functions like medication supervision is added to monthly fee.

Locked front door. only c. 40 residents. family meals free. smaller version of PP with more emphasis on dementia. 2 private rooms share bath. Animals (dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs) Pricy: $255-305/day.

It was OK, but wasn't nearly as nice. The patients were much sicker than my husband. They were further along the line. I knew that if he was in an environment like that, he would go downhill pretty quick.

It was really nice but it was also very expensive and more for memory impaired people so it wasn't the right place for us. The lady who showed me around was very sweet and offered and kind of help she could even if we didn't end up moving there. I thought that was really nice.

They are wonderful. Because they're in Berkeley, things are more expensive and because they are a smaller facility there is not as much variation in options but The Berkshire is wonderful. My parents were there for a little over 2 years. We went the full range from independent living to hospice service for my mom. They did a really nice job and the staff were really devastated when she passed. They were all very good staff members.

I'm going to be honest with you, at first it was super clean, smelled like a hotel. They do allow dogs and that's the only reason she was here. I read the 100 page book they gave me that paints a beautiful picture of their philosophy and the whole deal but when it comes down to it there are individuals that don't live up to it. Just one example, there was a few days ago where my moms dog smelled really bad, I don't know if they're bathing them enough, and the dog was there on the sofa with my mom which was great for her but if they're not going to bathe them enough they shouldn't be on the furniture. The overall cleanliness I think is pretty good but I think they need to keep the dogs cleaner, the other dogs were scratching and they need to pay closer attention to them. I have a calendar of events taped to my desk here and they have activities going on all day every day and I reckon any activity that creates any brain stimulation is good in my book. They're doing what they say they're doing and they follow them through the phase of the whole ride.

We're still working with them on trying to follow through on some things they said they were going to do, some things aren't going very smooth. We're working on making sure my mom is ready to go to meals, so coming to get my parents on a regular basis, they don't always show up after the meals to help her get into her wheelchair or her walker. The meals, we've tried to work with them to get meals my parents would like, they said they would customize the meals; so we're working on that too. They're very apologetic and they try to follow through but then it doesn't always happen. They're committed to making an effort but it doesn't always filter through. We're also working on getting activities that work with my parents because the don't quite feel like they fit, but we're still hopeful.

They just didn't seem as organized or as friendly as other communities we had looked at. The area was dark and seemed like a lonely setting. The residents seem to be in the later stages of Alzheimer so our loved one would not have as much in common. Overall it was a pretty good community but it just wasn't the right fit for my loved one.

My husband and I just moved in a month ago, and It's a little overwhelming getting used to it. There's a base charge and then there are other charges on top of that, which can be confusing. Additionally, the doctors would like to use their pharmacy but I want to use my pharmacy which would save some money. . The care itself has been very good; the nurses and caregivers are very kind. They have a lot of activities that my husband appears to enjoy.

Very happy with Silverado and the care they are providing our loved one. It is a very nice community. They are being very well taken care of. We would recommend Silverado to anyone.

Quite impressed. Seems like a good fit.

I visited and I liked the location and the staff. The rooms were the smallest, with the least amount of amenities. The courtyard was small and pretty.

Wonderful programs, one of best at memory care. Room-mates, common showers.

I think this would be a great fit for my parents.

This facility is too expensive for my situation.
