WaterHouse Ridge is a scam. [name removed] was the manager when we signed our mom in. She constantly lied about everything we caught her in lies and called her on her lies and she tried to deny them. Ironically she no longer works at Waterhouse Ridge. This would lead you to believe it would have gotten better. It hasn’t. The nursing staff was terrible and in the few short months we had our mother there the nurse changed three times. [name removed] the nurse at the time, told us that we made a mistake by putting our mom in a memory care facility. According to our neurologist, this is where our mom was going to get the best service. However, [name removed] the nurse felt she knew better than our mothers neurologist and then had the audacity to tell us about the mistake we were making. We were finally able to move our mother out to a better place. However dealing with the new management was equally as frustrating. We needed charts and records that took forever, and they acted as though we were putting them out.

My loved one lived in Oak Park Manor right before this new ownership and name change in [date removed]. I believe the staff is the same. My family was very involved in my loved one's care but the staff did not take our concerns seriously. Her belongings went missing all the time and her hygiene was poor. The staff rarely answered their phones, which is concerning when you want to talk to someone about your loved one’s care. We asked the staff to do a better job caring for her but they didn’t. I do not recommend this facility.

My job sends me to many facilities. I cringe every time I have to come to this one. The memory care is by far the worst of any place I've been. They are perpetually short staffed and many caregivers have little experience. The training is poor. The nursing staff is inadequate. It's hard to find anyone that can help a resident.

The staff is educated enough to care for you your loved one but the communication is not good at all. I feel they are lazy and they are disconcerted with your loved one and their condition. They were just there to do a job. I feel the community is just about the money and they take on more than they can deal with. I would not recommend this community to others.

The memory care residents are not cared for and are ignored every day. They aren't showered and they sit there and stare at their feet all day. None of the aides entertain them or give them things to do. There's no music, no TV, no games. We went in the pick my grandma up and there weren't any aides to be found in the entire wing. There were five residents sitting in the living room staring at the wall. We had to go find an aide and make her get them puzzles and activities to work on My grandmother is always filthy when we see her. Her fingernails were so long, she couldn't hold her spoon. All of her clothes are missing and the staff can't tell us where they are. They sent her to her doctor appointment in torn old sweatpants and a baggy shirt that wasn't hers. She usually is crying due to boredom and having nothing to do. She's gone to the ER twice in a month due to not being cared for by the aides.

Are you looking for an unprofessional team of people who don't understand dementia at all? If so please make your way to Waterhouse Ridge Memory care. My husband and I toured the facility earlier this month and unfortunately, the management team is pushy and frank. I was looking for my husband who is early onset and is very understanding of simple communication. The executive director spoke baby talk to him and it seems like she must be leading the caregivers by example, as we witnessed a caregiver [Removed] calling a patient "Mr Yumyum" during lunch. We observed this caregiver feeding another older woman saying "is that yum yum good girl." My daughter and I were completely appalled at the complete lack of respect the caregiver had for the patients and were astonished when the executive director also had this mentality. In short I chose not to move my husband into this facility. After all a business is only as good as the leader.

A word of warning to those interested in this place (because a tour of the facility will be very attractive). We were duly impressed by everything they showed us (the empty section with model rooms beautifully furnished) and chose a large private room that was in a wing yet unoccupied. We were told it would be another month, maybe two, until that wing opened up, but the room would be reserved for us. In the meantime, our mom was put into a "shared" room by herself, but rather than being charged the fee for this smaller size room, we are having to pay almost $3000.00 more for the FUTURE large private room we are "GOING" to be moved into - - - that was the deal we signed on for, thinking it would only be a month of waiting, 2 months at the most, until she could move into the room she selected. So - - we waited one month, then two months, then three months, then four months, and now going on five months, with no end in sight, still paying close to $7000.00 for a room that should be renting for $4400.00. I think this is their little scam going on - - to promise something and never deliver on it, but still charge the additional 3K to "reserve" it until that wing is opened - - well guess what? The facility did not pass inspection by the state licensing bureau, so now they have closed off any new move ins until they've been cleared by the state and passed the licensure inspections... meaning, they are NOWHERE NEAR being able to open the new wing, but will still be charging us for the big room we may never have at this rate. The facility is beautiful, but understaffed, with underpaid, unhappy caregivers and plenty of turnover because anyone worthwhile as a new employee sees the level of incompetence going on and quickly leaves for greener pastures. We made a big mistake moving here and are being ripped off - - hopefully this review will spare you the same grief.

We moved mom to this new facility after 3 years in another local facility. We have been very please with so many aspects from the beautiful decor, great executive chef created healthy meals, very engaging activities in both large and small groups. The thing that impresses us most is the caring hearts of ALL their care givers. They really connect with each of the residents in a genuine way. Management addresses all concerns and suggestions in a timely manner. Everyone is very professional but warm.

We had an awful experience here! My loved one was only here for a short while, and they said they couldn't care for him. This place is really set up for residents that are 90 years old or older, and can only sit in wheelchairs. They told me they had activities and things to do, and they didn't do anything with my loved one. They just shut him in the dining room by himself.

They did a closed door evaluation of my mom and bumped her to memory care which nearly doubled the cost. They assured me she would get the individule attention and activities to keep her stimulated, every time i visited no matter what time of day my mother was sleeping, previously she never napped. She hit her leg and had a silver dollar wou d that was not treated and they called and said tiny wound ttear. Staff never interacting with patients they were doing puzxles themselves. Every time I was there there were othet elders needing help but no one to be found. They never took memory care to the concerts or other interesting activities, as stated ,offered in the main assisted living. I pulled her out after two weeks. Wrote to shee if sny sort of refund but was charged the next month and apsolutely no communication back. Terrible place and experience.

My mother was there for only one month. She developed bed sores that were so deep she had to have surgery to debride them. I heard they lock residents IN their room to " protect them from roaming residents". The administrative staff was very pleasant during the interview process and promised the world. I do NOT think they have a good handle on how they care for their residents besides IGNORE them. I really liked the administrators but when it was all over, I think they were good salesmen. Too bad.. I would NEVER recommend this facility.

This place is a joke! After my mother had two falls earlier in the morning that day they finally took her to the hospital around 6pm that evening to have her checked out. They asked if I could go to the hospital and relieve the care taker that assisted her to the hospital because they were short handed and they needed her back! When I got my mother back that evening I pulled up to the entrance and there was a care giver sitting out front in a wheelchair, on his cellphone, having a cigarette. I asked if there were any more wheelchairs and he said no. He did offer the one he was sitting in when he noticed I was struggling to get my mother out of the car. Never offered any assistance, just continued smoking while on his phone. It just went south from there!

Since moving into the Springs my parent went down hill very quickly, My Dad fell many times while under their care, they will mention their dome security system which is in each residents room. The problem is no one reacts in a timely manner, I have NEVER seen any caregiver running to a room when an alarm goes off. Also, without notice they will disengage the alarm system in some residents rooms. Many times 10 or so residents are in the TV room without an aid or nurse anywhere in sight. In this time there are fights between the residents which sometimes results in physical touching. We moved out after only 3 months and sorry we ever moved in. Pauline the administrator is very weak and seems as though she does not even care about your concerns. The nurses at the Springs will call you at home to either come in to care for your loved one or they will tell you that you have to hire one on one care.

Like others I was fooled by the glimmering image Waterhouse portrays. They are constantly changing management and it seems there is a new face at the front desk each time I've visited. The Executive Director seems friendly on the phone but is very fake once you interact with her in person. It's really unfortunate as she ultimately makes promises she cannot keep. When I first came in for a tour, it was lunch time. We went into a neighborhood where staff were serving lunch to the residents. The girls seemed nice and even said hello to my family and I while we were in touring. We decided to move mom in despite other reviews we had read online about this facility. Mom seems to be doing okay, but has since been very unhappy. The bathroom in her unit always smells of strong urine as though it does not get clean. Staff are constantly trying to keep other wandering residents out of her room and we are always finding other people's clothing in mom's closet. When we bring it to the staff's attention, they say they don't know who's it is if it isn't mom's. Dinner time is a disaster with staff rushing people to eat and immediately trying to rush them to bed. Also, we pay alot of money for mom to be here and the dinner items do not reflect the gourmet meals they promise. The offered hot turkey melts that were hardly presentable with soup. Their is a substitute menu on some of the tables that say those items are available at all times, but when mom asked for a specific item from the list, the staff said they went to the kitchen but the oven is off, so she could have a cold ham sandwich with chips or the meal they brought to the neighborhood. We are already considering moving mom to a different facility. They never have activities going on except for maybe a movie in the living room of the neighborhood and staff are always coloring printed sheets or scrolling on their phones. The staff don't pay attention to the residents and it's clear they don't care. It's really disappointing and varies greatly from the day time staff who are so sweet to my mom and my family.

Scam artists - - everything looks BETTER than wonderful when you tour the lovely facilities, and you only find out later (after all the expense and emotional upheaval of moving) that this is a Circus Act of utter incompetence... empty promises of "the best" in memory care including the integration of Teepa Snow's research and programming. NOT. There's a constant revolving door of questionable minimum-wage contract aides who may or may not have a high school education and have NO IDEA who Teepa Snow is or what she stands for. It's ALL HYPE to get you to move in, and then you see the deeply disturbing truth that it is nothing more than a facade: a lovely new building, beautifully furnished, full of incompetent [removed] for caregivers--who sit around watching reality t.v. and texting on their phones rather than engaging with residents. Residents are treated as cattle, with little regard for their dignity... if this is what you want, at a PREMIUM PRICE, then go for it. Most of us have wised up and moved our parents out once we figured out we'd all been scammed. They could not even pass their state inspection, and have had "Restriction of Admission" notices posted on their front door since the first visit. Meanwhile, anyone with a shred of integrity has quit (you will notice the prominent signage "Now Hiring!" at the driveway entrance; they cannot keep any staff). Most of the residents' families have made the easy decision to get their loved ones OUT of there ASAP, and if you're smart, you will save yourself the emotional turmoil and expense of finding out the hard way that "all that glitters is not gold."
